Sacrament of Confirmation

We look forward to the celebration of the sacrament of confirmation in St Michael’s Church, Kildysart on Saturday, 10 October at 11am. Please God it will be a joyful occasion as your daughter or son welcomes the Holy Spirit into her/his heart.

Due to the ongoing public health emergency, our 2020 celebration of confirmation will be different  to previous years. It is now normal to wear a face covering in Church. We are required to maintain a safe distance of 2 metres from people who are not part of our household. To facilitate this public health requirement attendance will be limited to each candidate together with his/her parents and siblings. A seat in Church will be allocated to each family. The seats will be allocated in alphabetical order following the candidates’ Christian names.   Each candidate is asked to choose a parent as his/her sponsor. We also ask each family to inform the school by e mail or telephone of the name which the candidate has chosen as his or her confirmation name.

In preparation for the sacrament the candidates together with their parents are invited to gather for the celebration of Mass in our parish Church on Friday, 18 September at 8pm. This will give us an opportunity to pray together and after Mass we can discuss the confirmation ceremony.

We also plan to have a brief rehearsal at 7pm on the evening prior to confirmation (Friday, 9 October). It is especially important that the candidates and their sponsors be present for the rehearsal.

First Holy Communion

We look forward to the celebration of the sacrament of First Holy Communion in St Michael’s Church, Kildysart on Saturday, 3 October at 11am. Please God it will be a joyful occasion as your daughter or son welcomes the Lord into her/his heart.

To facilitate this public health requirement attendance will be limited to each candidate together with his/her parents and siblings. A seat in Church will be allocated to each family. The seats will be allocated in alphabetical order following the child’s surname.

The children will celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time on Wednesday, 16 September at 7pm in St Michael’s Church, Kildysart.

In preparation for First Holy communion the children together with their parents are invited to gather for the celebration of Mass in our parish Church on Friday, 25 September at 8pm. This will give us an opportunity to pray together and after Mass we can discuss the First Holy Communion ceremony.
